This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like very dark bitter chocolate, licorice, tobacco, char, oak, and vanilla.
Timber stouts tend to be very barrel forward, but this feels even more so in that direction than usual. It’s got a very charred, toasted marshmallow sort of vibe, with licorice, herbal bitterness, lots of roast, and a very dark chocolate fudgy base to it. There’s vanilla, and a flavor that kind of reminds me of espresso bark.
This is medium bodied, slightly boozy and warming, but not overwhelmingly so. It’s pretty creamy and finishes dry.
This is a bruiser for sure, not for everybody, but definitely for me.
