On tap at Queue Beer in Brooklyn, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells somewhat mapley, and very chocolatey, with vanilla and caramel.
This is definitely a cute little barrel aged stout – you can definitely tell it’s a solid 4-5% ABV less than the usual Timber beers, but it’s not thinly flavored by any means. It’s creamy, almost like it’s buffeted by lactose, even though I don’t think it actually is. There’s vanilla, maple, and lots of chocolate, with a solid but light barrel character – caramel and bourbon but no overt oakiness.
This is creamy, rich for the ABV, and pretty drinkable.
I’m always going to prefer their bigger beers, but this was still a very solid little collaboration between Timber and Marlowe.
