From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little barely wine pours a dense deep and dark
muddled brown with a modest head of fizzling foam that fades to a razor thin ring with
nice legs. Nose of bourbon, oak, rich vanilla, cinnamon, mild maple, toffee, and dates.
Flavors excel with dates, toffee, maple, bourbon, oak, vanilla, brown sugars, and baked
apples with cinnamon. Mouth feel is medium, subtle carbonation, smooth, lightly
coating, light warming, and finishing with a sweet mellow maple and cinnamon note.

Overall, nothing is overpowering and all is presented well. Still getting more
baked apple notes with warmth.....but tis the season and baked apples sounds
good right now!

Cheers

Overall, it has a pleasant aroma and flavor. There’s an oily mouthfeel on the finish that I don’t find appealing.

Pours a dense dark brown, with tan head. If you toldenit was a stout I would believe you.

Smell is potent cinnamon. It's has a very particular smell, spicy, fruity, maple and malt. It's a particular cinnamon, doesn't quite smell like the cinnamon I have.

Taste is very similar, but with the particular spice flavour being stronger. As it warms its gets a little unbalanced and too spicy.

Feel is smooth and rich.

Very particular flavour overall, and I think I like it.

This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like caramel, maple, bourbon and cinnamon.

I don’t generally love adjuncted barleywines, but this was a pretty good one. There’s not too much maple, just enough to keep it interesting, and only a little, little bit of cinnamon. Cinnamon can always be overwhelming, so the light touch here is fairly appreciated. This is quite caramelly, with a touch of bourbon and oak – I could definitely use more barrel character.

This is medium bodied, silky, and not boozy at all.

I’d want more barrel character, but this is done reasonably well for a pastry barleywine.

A - Pours a deep dark brown with a thin fizzy tan head. Light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is plums, chocolate, cinnamon and oak.

T - The taste is toffee, plums, raisins, chocolate, vanilla, maple, cinnamon and a mild bourbon.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a slick dry finish.

O - I really like this. The adjuncts don’t overpower the base beer.

Looks more like a Imperial Stout than what I have experienced with English Barleywine. Short head that rapidly dissipated.Oily lace on the glass. Smells and Tastes of malted cinnamon. Quite high on the sweetness scale. Feels thick and chewy. Not much carbonation. Lowered the overall score because for the price I paid for a single there are many others that give a higher return on investment.

Clear and dark brown pour, opaque in the glass; very dense and thick head, tan colored, creamy with a gently rolling texture on top. Pleasantly sweet nose; maple syrup and cinnamon; french toast. The taste amplifies the aroma; mapel syrup-sweet with plenty of cinnamon; not quite cloying but close; barely perceptible dark malt beneath the sweetness; a bit of bitterness detected at the finish. Heavy, heavy body; thick, chewy mouthfeel; sludgy; nice sense of alcohol warmth cutting through the residual sugars.

I would say this is a must-try beer for lover's of huge, adjunct laden, high ABV barleywines. Personally, I was hoping for a more traditional English barleywine, but I can't complain too much since the beer's creation is recounted on the can. I somewhat knew what I was getting into with this beer. The bourbon barrel aging phase is somewhat buried in the maple and cinnamon flavors, but it does become a bit noticeable with the alcohol feel and warmth.

ABV: 13%; pouring temperature: 50.9 °F; canning info: X 4 I (I'm guessing 24 04 09)

12oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour with a beige head that settles to a ring around the glass. Sweet malty aroma with notes of maple. Taste adds notes of cinnamon and light coffee, more maple , with an undercurrent of velvety malts. Smooth as silk.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a thick black with pretty much zero head. The nose is maple, cinnamon, marshmallow, toffee, bourbon, and chocolate.

The taste is really nice. Nice big cinnamon and maple notes hit right away. Also getting vanilla, some bitter oak, chocolate, toffee, plums, figs, bread, and graham cracker. Really nice. A bit on the sweet side, but not quite at the "too much" level.

Aftertaste is maple and sweet candy. Mouthfeel is medium to thick bodied.
