can to snifter.
Black viscous motor oil look with small brown foamy head. Hard to maintain head.
Aroma gives mostly an amaretto character, which is disappointingly dominant. Not that it is bad, but it overshadows any other aromas that might contribute.
Nuts (i get both peanut, almond) and dark chocolate. Boozy whiskey though also kind of leaning towards amaretto. Wood/cedar...the Amburana is a very interesting addition and I've liked it in most beers I've sampled with it; this one included. Gives an extra earthy flavor similar to ginger or maybe sarsaparilla. A bit on the sweet side, but very tasty and mellow.
Very full body. Sticky, but smooth.

16 ounce can - $7.00 at Woodstock Beer Market in Woodstock, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a very (very) dark brown body with no appreciable head formation lasting beyond a few seconds no matter how hard or angrily I poured it from the can. Ah well.
Smell: Dark chocolate and deeply caramelized sugar aromatics with some underlying nuttiness, medium-roast coffee, dark fruit fruitiness (plum, raisin, lt. cherry) and light baking spices. A bit of the maple showing as it takes on a little warmth.
Taste: Heavy, fairly sweet chocolaty-caramel presence with little ribbons of maple working in and out of the flavor. A fun, distinct woodsy note with a nice baking spice spiciness perceived. Given the heft of the beer, absence of carbonation and overall sweetness, the beer moves, feels and tastes like melty ice cream or dark chocolate almond clusters.
Mouthfeel: Full-bodied. Near nil carbonation. Smooth, sticky-sweet mouthfeel.
Overall: Minus not having any local beer-drinking friends anymore (or really any friends now that I'm in my mid-to-late forties), I would've happily split this with someone given the Godiva liqueur-quality of the beverage. I offered some to my fiancée, but she opted to leave the room instead.
