Thanks to Vurt for this one. 16oz can (dated 08/05/2020) poured into 14oz teku. poured the expected solid black color, with an inch of tan head that had very good retention and no lacing.
A strong rum scent blasted out of the can right at the crack. A closer sniff brought some whiskey aroma, alongside a solid base beer smell.
Fairly similar on the tongue, with the addition of noticeable roast, that at the finish stepped into coffee territory.
The body was smooth, clean, and had a finish that started sweet, but dried out nicely.
Drinkability was nice, especially for the 10% ABV.
Overall, a solid brew, and a nice version of this project. A must grab if you see it.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a fine, half finger milk chocolate head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, molasses, whiskey, a hint of rum and chocolate. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, molasses, whiskey, rum, milk chocolate and straw like biscuit. Lingering milk chocolate and rum finish. Medium bodied with silky, moderate creaminess; great mouth feel. A bit boozy at first, but the flavor is winning from the start. I've been impressed with every version of this series so far and attributed to the basic recipe, but this one is quite a bit off the standard with the double barreling. I expected a lot from the size and barrel treatment and was not disappointed. The creamy body, look and aroma are all excellent. Because this is barreled and the highest ABV, it's kinda unfair, but this is my favorite one yet. They did a great job. I can't remember a collaborative effort with backing a great cause that turned out so uniformly high quality. Everyone seems to be putting their best out there. I'm impressed.
