Taster pour at von Ebert Pearl. Clear golden , small soapy head, clumpy lacing. Fruity aroma, floral notes. Taste is bready, fruity, floral, soapy. Not capturing the chalky feel, but lots of flowery aspects

French Pilsner (listed at the brewery)
Medium light golden color. Light amount of off-dry, lightly toasted malt, with a slight perfume of floral noble hops. Refreshing, off-dry, light toast malt, a touch of yeastiness and subtle, floral hop presence, for the taste. Finishes well with all in balance.

So, like, yeah… Raul has totally been into French stuff for a while. And if I had the choice, I would no doubt party with Truffaut and Rohmer (but not Godard - not my thing). With that, I’m also into wild life - cats are wonderful creatures. So when I popped this bad boy, or mauvais garçon, I had high hopes. And…? It’s just ok. It’s simply a bit to subtle for me. No crispness, no “punch” like Jean Gabin taking care of an enemy. It’s just ok - which is ok. But, well, yeah…
Walk gently, my minions.
*It’s slowly creeping up on Raul in a good way. It’s strange; it’s really soft imho. I like a Pilsner with some bread-like crispness and bite, but this bad boy is subtle - and it’s not all that bad. Just not a fan of the aroma.

loving their lager game at von ebert, their wild stuff has been fun too, their hoppy beers kind of middle of the road for me, but the lagers all bang, and this italian style pils is no exception, crystal clear from the tap, lighter golden color, lasting near inch of white head, bubbles rising up. well hoppy in the nose, but european still, i get some light noble spiciness, grass and green tea too, mild berry though too, a little sweet orange, a nice complexion and with some bitterness there, which i like in the style. its light on the malt flavor but does have a little more body than the typical pils type, not full, but enough structure to support what feels to me like extra flavor. the hops start a little earlier, stay clean, and finish with some pep. this is off dry, some middle sweetness from the malt, less later, and its the familiar lager yeast strain that defines the finish with the hops. good balance here, robust as they go, and real well made. maybe not their most memorable lager for me, but i could happily make a day of drinking these. pleasant companion to spicy chili too!

Had on tap. Crystal clear golden body with a finger of white foam. Hops are floral and gentle despite their omnipresence in both smell and taste. Supporting yeast and cracker in the nose. Taste add light grass clippings and faint biscuit but the yeast is cut into. Overall kind of muted. Feel is bright, crisp, effervescent even, but short lived with a ending that stops short of being dry.

Unfiltered golden body. Sweeter biscuit, floral, bready; as a lager should be and isn't too sweet. Straw. Very floral and perhaps a touch of citrus zest. Medium lighter bitterness on the backend, lighter medium in body, good carbonation.
