truly fantastic blended funky beer here, done with lemon verbena and pink peppercorn, such a clever recipe, and world class execution, quite considerably more bretty than sour, which i really dig, and for all the positive attention their hoppy stuff and lagers are receiving, i continue to be most stoked on this side of what they do, they few little bottles like this i have had have been exquisite. this is straw colored and effervescent, not quit clear but very active, holding several inches of snow white head, looks properly belgian. the aroma has a ton going on in the ferment, some pear and green apple notes from the belgian yeast, a mature brett complex, brux forward to me, some light lemony bacterial tang, white wine and oak together, only mild acidity but still mouthwatering, dusty and earthy too, way cool. its also herbal, tea-like, and citrusy from the additional ingredients, verbena way out in front for me ahead of pink peppercorn here. the flavor is similar, awesome brett profile to this, impressive maturity with the oak, but then the freshness of the lemon verbena is pretty potent too, a great combination and i am shocked that a few in our group arent wild about it, for me its a killer fermentation profile in a fresh and refreshing summery beer, delicious. the pink peppercorn is all on the dry finish and is accentuated some at temperature, there is light herbal bitterness that makes this almost crisp, and its super effervescent, so alive and excited, i love that in this type of beer. the grain is simple and i get a light cracker base along with some flattering minerals, all set up the yeasts well. neat that there is some belgian character in this, a clever and tasty mixed fermentation complexity. overall this is wonderful beer, massively flavorful but also light and airy and delicate to drink, the verbena adds a lot, and the brett rules. ill buy more of this if i see it again!
