Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of piney, citrus and fruit hops, blackberry and raspberry, lemon, pine and some dankness. Flavor is pale malt, piney and citrus hops, pine needles, grapefruit, light blackberry and light stone fruit with a touch of catty dankness. Nice piney and citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Quite the unusual hop bill here; the aroma of berries was so intense on the pour that I stopped to examine the glass to see if this was a hazy, very fruit forward. The aroma in the glass did have more the promised conifer element as well as lighter citrus and dank notes. Flavor was more like I expected from the name with fine pine/redwood character with lighter berry and fruit notes, but some dankness too. This has is West Coast leaning for sure, but more berry fruit than citrus. Does have a solid West Coast bitterness. Not quite as conifer driven as expected from the name, but better for it; the fruit notes are quite nice and integrated and the finish is definitely piney. Nicely done.
