A- Well i did exactly what the can told me to do....shake, open and hard pour! I am greeted with an explosion of nitro creamy foam, that got a little bit all over my table, but luckily most ended up in my glass lol....the head is frothy, of egg whites almost, and the four finger goodness settles slowly into a sponge toffee like texture.....it is tan in color. I cannot see what the carbonation is like, as the beer itself is very dark, almost black in color, however, the lacing seems to be impressive enough, with thick, rich soapy foam clinging ever so strongly to the inside of my glass.
S- I get super smooth chocolate, both dark and milk varieties, alongside dry tones of oats/grass, mocha, fresh robust vanilla sweetness, sweet cream, and arrowroot cookie! The finish would be of dark roast malts, astringent leaning coffee, dried dark fruit and a caramel/cooked toffee richness.
T- The flavors follow suit to the aromas fairly closely, with very smooth chocolatey notes....think vanilla infused chocolate liqueur.....speaking of which, there is some nice muted vanilla bean, french vanilla coffee, dry oat biscuit, muted caramel and toffee richness. As it warms, a chocolate truffle creme emerges and sweetens the finish up from the dryness that the cocoa and coffee brought on.
M/O- Velvety smooth carbonation from the nitro and the body is medium/full. Overall this is a great dessert beer and I find the drinkability quite high. It would pair well with a chocolatey dessert or does the trick on its own. I quite like these nitro porters and this one does not disappoint! Hope to try it again in the future!
