Forest Fortress is an imperial pastry stout brewed with a ridiculous amount of specialty malts. We conditioned the final product on roasted hazelnuts, toasted coconut, oily vanilla beans, rich cocoa nibs and aromatic Mostra coffee beans. Enjoy this stout in your favorite treetop hideaway.

Look - ebony with very thin tannish head. Absence of light
Smell molasses, coconut, raisins and dates
Taste sweet, Carmel, molasses, and coffee
Feel ever so slight carbonation. Full body and smooth
Overall I have had this for 16 months and well worth the wait! I wish I had more!
Very well done! Will be looking for more offerings!

Humble Forager is one of the kings of the pastry world. The vanilla bean leads the way and is rounded off with some boozy mocha vibes. The flavors aren't as bold as other HF stouts but this one definitely isn't lacking flavor.

Poured moderately hard from a tall can into a snifter glass, forming a finger or two of brown head that soon faded to a bit of lacing. Deep brown/black body, pretty much opaque. Smell is delicious hazelnut. Hazelnut dominates, with a mix of cocoa and coconut following. A hint of vanilla mixed in, but almost no coffee flavor. A bit sweet, but not more than necessary. Not too boozy, despite the 12% ABV. Medium bodied with little carbonation, a bit oily feeling, but quite nice. Absolutely delicious stout, one of the best hazelnut ones I've had. Wish I had gotten more, but a bit expensive. Worth it though!

16oz can. Stamping canning date is '07/17/20'.
Cola brown colored body. Quick fizz head which is muddy brown colored, and this quickly dissipates. No lacing. Moderately active bubbly surface.
Aroma is boozy, with chocolate and nut smells. Touch of coffee in the background. When I first poured this there was a definite coconut scent.
Taste is definitely like rich chocolate cake with coconut. Has a little coffee bitterness, and a nutty tone. The tail end is boozy dark chocolate. Overall this is a sweet tasting beer.
Mouth feel when cold is rather thin, but as the beer warms it gains viscosity, and does its job to coat and mouth and tongue.
A well done blend of flavors, and brings an enjoyable beer drinking experience. This enjoyment is rather quick lived, and there is no enticement to have more than one. The 12% ABV is not hidden but keeps the beer from being too thin.

16oz can into a goblet. Appears to have been canned 7/16/20, so over 2 months old. Beer brewed by Fair State MN for Humble Forager.
Jet black body, initially thick lively tan head quickly dissipates to nothing, so no lacing.
Aroma is a somewhat mild RIS smell.
On tasting, well, a sweet tooth like me is loving this one. It's hard to get any of the individual additives other than cocoa, but collectively it's a sweet delicious drink..
Mouth is below medium, heading towards thin. Finish is a warm chocolate with a little roast.
Overall, one of those beers where the sum is greater than the parts. Aroma so-so, mouth thinner, but overall, an enjoyable pastry stout.

Everything as advertised. Incredibly smooth ... I had no idea this was 12% until I logged on here. Drinks like 9-10. Thankfully the coffee elements were limited to the aroma and didn’t add bitterness to the flavor. Sweet, but not too syrupy ... the vanilla is huge. Well done!
