Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on August 11, 2020.

 

 

Canned July 10 2020. A little over two months old.

Pours out a dense and hazy looking pastel yellow. Nearly two fingers of soapy white head. This looks a few shades paler than chicken gravy but it certainly has the look. Some head retention and lacing.

Nose is classic Citra. Pineapple and grassy notes. There is some citrus underneath as well. The scents are on the weak side. Not really jumping out of the glass. Don't know if that because of age or not.

Taste is a little more expressive. Pineapple, grassiness, citrus, a touch of onion, weed dankness on the back end. Mild bitterness with some rising hop burn as you progress through the brew. It's a pretty balanced mix of fruit and plant/vegetal/green notes. Citra to a tee.

Mouthfeel falls short here. Medium bodied with mild-medium carbonation. There is a bit of a bite. Its certainly very drinkable, but a little forgettable. It's a tad too watery to be considered smooth. Unfortunate for a brew called Cloud Hopping(I love the word play), because it doesn't feel fluffy, light, comfy or inviting like a cloud would be. I mean, anybody to come in contact with a cloud would fall right through so perhaps the metaphor makes more sense than i thought. I digress.

Overall a better than average IPA. Despite the mouthfeel being a little lackluster, the flavor is balanced well and it is highly drinkable at it's casual 6.5% ABV. Solid beer, nice artwork

A- A hazy golden straw with a two finger white head.

S- Citrus, earthy, some tropical fruits, touch of wet grass.

T- Citrus, some lemons, earthy, floral, touch of pine, hints of tropical fruits and oats.

M- Smooth, light to medium body.

O- A nice IPA, enjoy the earthiness in it. Only real flaw would be the body is a little thinner than I expected.

Phenomenal medicinal quality to this IPA... the juice heads aren’t going to dig it all... it’s super smooth, tons of burnt vinyl, cheese rind, zero sweetness. This is my preferred take on the NEIPA style.

hoppy hazy ipa oats make it a smooth taste

BORN ON 07/10/20 stamped on bottom of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Hazy Arnold Palmer hue with 1-2 finger frothy, oatmeal-colored head with decent retention and some streamers of lacing.

S: Aroma is light overall with a lot of pineapple and mint and some nondescript fruity esters.

T: Flavor is interesting -- in the mid-palate there is a distinct malt note that I imagine is oat as they call this "oat IPA." Hops still dominate with pineapple, lemon, white grapefruit, and more of the herbal, grassy, minty notes.

M: Medium-bodied and low carbonation but does have a slight astringency in the finish that helps create a drying finish.

O: The oat note in the flavor was unique but overall the beer is a mid-packer with not a lot to distinguish it from the other NEIPAs aside from the interesting oat quality.

Hazy as advertised; completely opaque in thick portions of the glass. Dark orange color with a hint of brown. Modest head production from a strong pour, with weak retention.

Big blast of herbal and juicy hop notes: grapefruit, orange, oregano, mint, mild-to-moderate pungent dankness, mango, pineapple.

Surprisingly light on the palate, and far less smooth and creamy than you'd expect for a hazy IPA with oats and wheat. Yes, the ABV is on the lower end of the spectrum for a single IPA, but a good Hefe will likely clock in under this ABV, and will provide more body and smoothness - not to mention other single IPAs from the Northeast. Very little sting, and modest perceived bitterness.

Flavor is quite nice, but loses a little bit of the impact with the slightly watery mouthfeel. I get a blend of lemon, orange, mint, pineapple, very low dankness and modest pungency, a touch of peppered cracker, leafy green herbs and grass.
