We cooked up this vanilla cinnamon maple mocha-inspired imperial stout with the amazing people at Mikerphone Brewing in Elk Grove, Illinois. Amped up tones of maple syrup riff with beautifully roasted Ghost Bear coffee from our friends at Mostra, backed by layers of rich Ugandan vanilla beans and smooth Bolivian cocoa nibs, and dashed with aromatic cinnamon. This stout is a great companion on your next humble adventure.

L: Pours a dark chocolate brew, forming a thin caramel head that fades fast, leaving behind a small star of effervescent retention but with zero lacing. Held to the light, this beer has a chunky, opaque fudge hue.
S: Detecting cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate (cacao nibs) on the first pass. Hints of maple syrup (as advertised), dark roast coffee, toasted malt, and faint burnt sugar as well.
T: Cacao nibs really shine, as does the maple syrup. The taste generally follows the nose, although the cinnamon and vanilla are less prominent than the aromas indicated. There is a pinch of coffee and malt to add some roast & bitterness. Candied sugar, maybe some molasses? More sweet than bitter but it avoids crossing the line into being a sugar bomb.
F: Slick, creamy, lingering, and heavy. Somewhere between medium- to full-bodied, leaning towards the latter. Light carbonation.
O: This beer is exactly as it's advertised on the can. Decadent dessert stout, I find it a bit lacking in malts/roast but it avoids being labeled as a sugar bomb. Worth a sample, but probably won't be returning to it.

Pours nearly black, with a smooth bubbled one finger head. Aroma is cinnamon and mocha, with maple being nearly absent. Taste, however, brings out a bit more of the maple with vanilla and cinnamon present. Carbonation seems a bit low but the mouthfeel is quite creamy and smooth. The coffee is present but surrounded by the other flavors. In fact, that seems to be the profile with no one ingredient standing out over the others, though I wouldn't call this balanced. It's as if each of the flavors were trying to hide. Still, this is quite tasty and I would have another in a heartbeat.

Smell - mostly chocolate vanilla smells
Taste - chocolate vanilla with a slight cinnamon
Feel - lighter body than desired but still creamy
Ovearll - with more smell and a thicker body this would be incredible

Venturing into the worlds of Chicago's own Mikerphone Brewers, maple syrup, Ghost Bear coffee from Mostra, Ugandan vanilla beans and smooth Bolivian cocoa, and cinnamon; this beer is more like an adventure... at least in taste.
Generally espresso black with tawny edges, Smells Like A Humble Adventure is anything but humble as its robust perfume of coffee and maple take the stage. A backup of cinnamon, cream and cocoa add to the Mexican hot chocolate character. Sweet once on the tongue, a good slather of chocolate and maple appease the sweet tooth instantly.
As more robust flavors of coffee, candied nuttiness, toasted sweetness and darker cocoa character gives the malt and maple a more savory character and a chocolaty sense of maple syrup. Throw in the cinnamon and coffee and then the French toast medley is complete. A creaminess of vanilla helps to amplify the sweetness and give the session roundness in the presence of kahlua-like spice.
Full bodied, cloying and sugary to the mouth, the stout finishes plump with malt and maple, and with a long spicy-sweet aftertaste in true breakfast fashion.

16oz can. Stamped on can bottom is 'OCT/28/21'.
Black colored body with thin mahogany back lit edge. Tan head but it reduces to an active surface and ring. No lacing.
All the listed ingredients are presenting - cocoa, coffee, maple, cinnamon and vanilla.
Taste is maple sweet, with cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa and coffee. All continue in the aftertaste.
Sludgy, heavy mouth feel. Coating texture in the mouth. Supportive carbonation.
Moderately sweet stout with blending flavors of cocoa and coffee. Definitely has the sweet maple influence.

Man, you can tell Mikerphone assisted on this one, as it’s got a great maple presence like their Bean Spirit beers. Just awesome. Roasty, plenty of adjunct flavors on the nose and tongue. A very slight oiliness and thickness, but nothing offensive. Sweet, full bodied, boozy. Love it!
