This Caribbean inspired CocktAle is inspired by a Nene Bird tropical beach bar drink. Bright and tropical, we packed in a massive dose of fragrant passionfruit before layering in juicy pineapple, bright strawberries, sweet vanilla, and nutty almonds to create an orgeat syrup vibe. We used rio red grapefruit in place of campari to offer a citrus tone with mild bitterness. Overall, the drink pops with tropical tones reminiscent of that straw hut beach side bar we love some much. Enjoy straight from the can, over ice, or blended with your favorite rum.

Humble Forager Enchanted Island v6 Fruited Sour, 9% ABV. Pours murky dark-orange with a finger of light-pink head that left no lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit and citrus. Taste follows, plus grapefruit, equally sweet/tart/bitter, with bitterness presenting as rind. Decent mouthfeel, overall very good. Humble Forager tweaks their beers and gives them version numbers. I previously had v1 and rated it 4.39, that one was modeled after Painkiller. Not looking good for this version, modeled after Nene Bird.

This is my first beer from Humble Forager, a brewery I’ve heard many great things about before. When I saw this on Tavour it was pretty much an instant buy just to give this brewery a shot. It’s quite the interesting idea for a Kettle Sour, mimicking a tiki drink. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about

Pours an opaque burnt orange with a finger of light beige head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is rather gentle but what’s here is nice. I’m picking up on aromas of passionfruit, earthy guava, pineapple juice, brown sugar, vanilla, juicy strawberry, and a touch of coconut

It’s a tad sweeter in taste, but it redeems itself with a late coming tartness. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange juice, pineapple syrup, brown sugar, passionfruit, almond, and light strawberry. The swallow brings notes of orange juice, pineapple juice, almond, brown sugar, vanilla, maraschino cherry, juicy strawberry, lime juice, and light passionfruit

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes a tad sticky but drinks well below its abv

This is a good first showing for Humble Forager. I’ll have to seek out more from them
