Southern Roots Brewing Company

I visited here with some work colleagues while on a business trip to Waco. This is a fairly small brewery in a restored older building in downtown Waco. It is a short walk from the river and many of the hotels and restaurants. It is open and welcoming on the inside, with light colored wood and metal being the themes. There are some simple tables and a bar, shuffleboard and an air hockey game. The night we were there the vibe was friendly and laid back.

They have excellent pizza, along with some salads and a few bar-type appetizers. So the menu is not fancy or deep, but everything was tasty and fresh. They had 15 taps with almost all devoted to their own beer, offering a wide variety of styles. I did a taster flight and a couple of pints, and all the beers I had ranged from good to excellent. The staff had good knowledge and enthusiasm for their beers, which is always a plus.

This is the best brewery I've found in downtown Waco so far, and I definitely will go back.

 

This is an awesome brewpub a couple of blocks off of Austin Ave (on 8th St between Washington and Columbus). It is a cool building with lots of space inside. The staff was super friendly. The had 12-15 (!) of their beer on tap and they cover the spectrum. Their beer is great but so is their pizza! Absolutely outstanding. Two great reasons to stop by. Highly recommended.
