A deep caramel with a dense off-white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is interesting. Quite hoppy with lots of tropical fruit, but an undercurrent of funk and earth are present. Caramel, a little brown sugar. The palate opens with a blend of tropical and citrus fruits, a blend of papaya, mango, candied orange, honey, mildly bitter and somewhat funky. The Brett expression is a little disjointed, a blend of clove and burnt plastic that doesn't entirely work. Drying, bitter and fruity in the finish. Decent.
