This is one of their better beers next to the stout, but still average in most categories. It is brown with a tan head. The nose is a little strange. Perhaps some smokey malt? No roasted qualities in the flavor. Just some dry malts with a hint of hops. Light body doesn't suit the style very well, but it is a decent session beer.

Poured a deep, dark brown, small white head.
The aroma was not distuinguishable as it was the WORST PORTER I had ever had. I mean bad. Something went wrong here. No taste, bitter and down right odd..gross. I wont spend anymore time on this brew. Get another beer and pass this up!

Pertinent Preliminary Comments: Got to travel to “The Springs”, as us Larimer County folks like to refer to it, and see a few minor league ball games over Memorial Day weekend. Made a point to find this brewpub, located in the Antlers Hilton in downtown Colorado Springs, and bring home some porter. So here goes...

APPEARANCE: One of the lightest brown porters I’ve ever seen – it’s as if a Guinness was mated with an Arizona Iced Tea. Nice head – latte colored, large bubbles, no lacing, dissipates quickly (expected for a growler that was opened yesterday).

AROMA: Chocolate mostly, with red wine and dark fruit in the background. A touch metallic, but certainly not off-putting in the least.

FLAVOR: Milk chocolate and chocolate malt dominates here. A nice sourness is also present without being overpowering, not unlike not-quite-ripe fruit, and it balances out the sweetness. Very subtle touch of hops, only recognizable on the tip of the tongue and roof of the mouth. One of the mildest I’ve had, and one of the tastiest.

MOUTHFEEL: Terrific! Very light body for such a flavorful brew. Carbonation appropriate for 24-hour-old growler (there’s still plenty, don’t you worry).

DRINKABILITY: At 5.5% ABV, this is REALLY nice. I could have a few of these on a hot day and just not be bored with it.

OVERALL COMMENTS: Looking forward to another trip to C Springs and getting to have some food with this beer, and maybe trying the rest of their fare as well. Seems like it would go very well with just about anything, even chocolate cake. Don’t let the light body fool you – this is worth your effort in getting there. And GO SKYSOX!

Poured a slight clouded brown/chest nut with 1/2" of tan head. A little lacing & a hint of head rentention

S: A hint malt & iron

T: Sweet malt & iron up front, then a slight nuttyness. A little grainyness follws along with a bit of chocolate. Finishes dry & sweet

MF: Light/medium bodied, with low carbonation lack of richness makes me think English brown ale, not porter

Drank okay, just not very interesting. Better than the amber
