We took our 10% English barleywine and placed it into a Doire Rye Whiskey barrel the day it was emptied of whiskey. Notes of oak and spice on the nose, continued spice, vanilla, toffee.

My first initial thought was that this reminded me of Goose Island Bourbon County... and then I drank 3 more bottles and started arguing about politics... so ideally I would like to drink 4 more bottles to get a better idea... but overall I’d compare it to Bourbon County.... and yes I know it is a barleywine... it was just so smooth. I would definitely buy this again.

From a 0.5l bottle recently purchased at Daydreaming ($10)....
Pours a clear, rich, lovely ruby/garnet color. Has some slow, steady carbo below, and a thin layer of creamy beige foam topside. Lacing is a bit on the thin side, though. Aroma has some mild caramel/toffee notes, a bit of dark fruit, and a touch of whiskey. It is very smooth going down, with a medium to medium-plus body.
Flavor kicks off with a decent base of caramel malts, with a little more toffee as well. Some more dark fruit slithers in, along with the barrel action. This is a bit on the spicy side, courtesy of the rye whiskey. Has some intimations of charred brown sugar along with some earthy hop notes as it nears the finish. A very nice brew from Daydreaming! Cheers!
