We took our 10% English Barleywine and placed it into a Doire Whiskey barrel/staves that's been sitting on whiskey we plan on sharing at our wedding in July 2021. Notes of oak and toffee on the nose, continued subtle fruits and spice.

Enjoying from a 0.5l bottle, obtained from the brewpub a few weeks back...
Yet another variant of their base English Barleywine, aged in a Doire Whiskey barrel and to be served at the wedding of owners Andy and Alana in July...
Pours a deep, dark, opaque chestnut color. Has barely a wisp of white foam at the rim, with minimal lacing. An initial whiff gets some rich malt, with caramel, toffee and whiskey being up front. It is solidly medium, perhaps a bit more, and smooth as silk on the tongue.
Taste? More toffee and caramel, with some caramelized brown sugar. There's also some dark choco, as well as subtle hints of dates and raisins. Lurking behind all of this is some whiskey action. Damn tasty stuff!! Cheers!!
