Pours a pretty brown-gold with red highlights, topped with a two finger creamy tan head, leaves temporary bits of lacing.
Good nose, very malty, molasses, earthy hop, a herbal note, and what seems to be a bit of raspberry.
Fruity taste, lots of caramel, again very malty. Some citrus hop but it's hidden under the malt sweetness.
A spritzy well carbonated medium body, feels fuller once the carbonation dies down.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light orange-brown color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of caramelized malts, chocolate, some dark fruit and some hops.

T: The taste has a bunch of different flavors up front all hitting you at once, caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, floral hops bitterness. They all seem to compliment each other to the point that they fade out all together just as quickly as they come in. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium-to-high carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, there are certainly other beers that I’d pick over this one, but it’s not bad

I know the date at the bottem says reviewed in may... i actually had it in february i think and just found the notes from the review.

Appearance: Poured a dark ruby color and served to me with minimal head.

Smell: I pick up a nice combination of fruity hops and a slight hint of roasted malts.

Taste: The fruity hops from the smell show themselves to be apple, which kinda predominated the taste. The aftertaste has a floral essence that provides a nice change to the fruit sweetness.

Mouthfeel: This feels quite smooth on the palate, but is well balanced with slight bitter quality that intesifies with the aftertaste.

Drinkability: This is very easily quaffable, and despite having a decent ABV, I couldn't pick it up at all. Very impressive.

Went into this tasting without knowing anything about this beer. Made for an interesting experience.

Best before 4/06 on the bottle.

Amber-red body with small head and a little bit of lacing. Smells of rich, sweet malts and almost fruity sugar. Tastes slightly like tequila-beer (not tequiza tho), which in hindsight is probably the mixture of maple syrup and caramel malts. Good mouthfeel, but the flavor is just a little to strange to me to want another.

Now knowing its the maple syrup I was tasting I'd like to give this beer at least one more try. Definately haven't had anything like it before. At least it was a new experience.

Concord North Woods Ale
12 oz brown bottle
Best before date on side label for 04/06
Served in a 20 oz tulip pint glass

Pours a copper brown color with a nice sized head on top that turns to a thin lace. The lace leaves nice trails of sticky lace patterns.

Pleasant aroma of malts, light pruins and Vermont maple syrup.

Sweet juicy malt with brown sugar sweetness. Toasted wheat bread with a caramel drizzle quality. Nicely balanced with just the right amount of carbonation. Maybe a tad malt heavy, but that's okay with me.

I really like this beer to be honest. I think this is a fresh one too, I picked it up at Colonial Spirits in Acton this past weekend. Much better than I was expecting and one of the better beers I've had from Concord. Pleasantly surprised.

Brilliant deep red color with a small tight creamy head. Fresh dry toasted malty aroma of nuts with a solid fruitiness (raspberry?). Sturdy toasted malt wall of flavor melts into sweetness followed by just the right hoppiness. Excellent mouthfeel and really well balanced.

Great beer.

This is a very nice beer. Although it is a winter seasonal, it would be a very good beer no matter what the season. For its style, it has a very strong hop profile, particularly in the finish. It is very crisp, and reminds me a little bit of SNCA. There is an equally strong malt backbone, as it starts with a tasty but subtle carmel flavor. Overall, this is a very balanced and very drinkable beer.

A: clear amber/brown body. eggshell bubbly head a light ring stick.

T: medium malt body, nice balance of hop bitterness. a touch sweet, brown sugar, a little nutty.

M: Seems a bit light, creamy though and good carbonation level.

enjoying with lots of cheese. a nice highly quaffable brew. happy turkey day!

Dark amber, light mahogany, with a large tan head. Big bubble carbonation with many columns, very active. Head falls to a solid table. Nose is mild malts and really not all that interesting. Certainly not anything negative in the nose. Malted taste that continues through the middle and finishes with a blended hoppiness that dries everything out very neatly. Flavorful, if slightly wet, especially upfront; in the middle, the mouthfeel starts to pleasantly thicken. Very drinkable. A good session brew.

Thanks to warriorsoul for this one via trade.

Very nice example of the style. Poured an incredible burgundy reddish brown in color. Light came through the beer and hit the wall on the other side as if it was stained glass. No head, but I think that was more a result of the pour. Nose was very rich in malts, mostly toasted. Ever so slight hop aroma. Flavor was full of malty goodness. Rich and deep malts, some toast and biscuits as well. Made me think of the smell in the woods after the leaves fall and just begin to decay. Hop additions are very much in the background of this beer. Definitely not for hop heads. Mouthfeel was heavy and rich. Kind of like maple sugar candy in the mouth. Easy drinking and definitely will not destroy the palate for other beers or foods.

This local brew pours brownish amber in color with a sturdy 1/4" tan head. The nose is pale but leans more towards a nutty beverage to come. At first taste, it comes across and dry and leafy, definitely an autumn beer. After that rigidness, it transforms more into a nutty offering. The finish remains very dry and leaves a gritty feeling in the mouth. This more reminds me of some kind of oktoberfest than anything else. Its a little harsh and mildly disappointing.

something about this brew just didn't do it for me. i think it was the abundance of sweetenss in the flavour that was the cause. it pours an unassuming amber colour, perhaps a tad lighter than your typical amber, with a tiny head that leaves minimal residue on the glass. the smell is very sweet and maple syrupy at times, with some butter and caramel present. hops and malt can be detected, but clearly behind the sweetness. the flavour isn't bad. it's different than most ambers, but again it's from the sweetness, which just didn't sit right with me. the flavour balance seemed off between all the characteristics mentioned above. if the basic amber flavours would have dominated here and the sweetness took a backseat, this might be a killer beer, but for now it still needs some tweaking. give it a whirl as there's nothing wrong with it per se, but it wasn't amongst my favourites.

Amber beers are admittedly not my favorite style, but Concord has turned into a favorite local brewer. I think their beers are well above average in quality and creativity, and that showed in this beer. The color was deep amber to mahogany and very clear. It had a one inch tan head with a thick persistent lace. The nose was fruity malty with hints of toffee maybe figs. The taste that followed had the same malty fruity taste. It had a decent medium mouth feel decent drinkability. Concord continues to deliver with a better than expected interpretation of the style.

I am sampling this brew via ppoitras. Thanks for the hook up!
The beer is at room temp and I am using a snifter.

Pours a clear mahogany with garnet tints. Soft fluffy 1 inch beige head foams up easily.
Aroma is ripe fruit plums, berries and some caramel and chocolate as well.
Smooth silky body with light carbonation. Flavor is malty with caramel and toffee dominating up front and some rich raisin hits in the middle finishing with a drying earthy hop presence. Smooth and very easy to drink no hint of alcohol anywhere.

An added bonus: The label states that proceeds from the sale of every bottle go to forest conservation. YEA!

12oz bottle from a 6-pack from Austin Liquors, Worcester, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a dense 1/2" light tan head on top of a dark amber hued brew, which had some staying power. Good lacing. Nose is heavy on the malts, with a somewhat sweet and hoppy whiff in the background. Taste is caramel malts initally, but is quickly overpowered by a cirtusy hoppiness that closes out with a pleasant crispness. Mouthfeel is excellent, and drinkability is not a problem.

A very nice amber color with thick, chewy looking tan head. Malty aromas, caramel and lightly grainy (very nice). Medium bodied, it's flavors are delicious toasted malt throughout and a light fruitiness in the finish that is lingering with sweet malt. Some hop bitterness shows in the finish otherwise it's a staight ahead malty beer in a O-fest ale like fashion (where ever that came from) Makes sense to the tastebuds. Very nice.

Poured a beautiful clear dark brwon with a nice two finger off-white head. Plenty of retention and lacing.

Smells quite nutty and toffee like.

Tastes like a hopped up brown/bitter. Starts off with a very nice malty wave of caramel. Leads in to a slightly astringent/bitter middle, and departs with a slightly toasted malty/alcohol twang. Perhaps a little bit of cinnamon and spice in there too. A really great brew.

Mouthfeel is moderate and carbonation is held in check.

Drink, drink, drink!

Pours a deep amber hue topped by a thin, quick head. The aroma is very thing with hints of floral hops and dark malts. The bitterness of teh brew is teh predominant first taste with a quick following mellow malt. The malts give impressions of a thin roast and a deep nutty character. The finish is warm and nutty. Overall quite a drinkalbe old ale.

Beuatiful coppery amber color with a nice head that remains for some time. Smell is sweet, malty, spicy. Taste is very rounded and full-bodied. Some initial sweetness, that ends in a nice hoppy presence on the palate that invites you to take another sip. Full bodied mouthfeel that reminds you of the higher abv. Nice, drinkable brew with excellent taste and appearance.

Light brown in color with a good size off white head that just won't go away. The appearance of this beer is one of my favorite things.
The smell is sweet with a hint of something spicy. The taste is just like fall. Caramel, apples, malt, cinnamon and verything nice. So very well balanced and complex.
I really think that I enjoy this beer much better from the bottle and fresh. I had this on draft last year and wasn't nearly impressed. Keep up the great work Concorde.
