Poured from 16.9 oz. bottle into a tulip glass. It pours an orange-copper with a creamy, eggnog-colored head and thin sheen of lacing. On the nose there is caramel, brown sugar, raisin, and fig. When sipped the barrel presence is strong but I don't taste the advertised maple syrup. As it warms the caramel and fruit become more evident but it never becomes as sweet as a typical English Barleywine. In fact, it reminds me more of the American variant. It's medium in body feel with low/moderate carbonation. This batch purports to be 10.5% ABV but it doesn't drink that big. Overall, this variant of Fraxinus is fine but it's missing the maple syrup.
