This is a double version of our Red Baron and aged on oak spirals. In Germany they would call this a Doppelsticke which means double secret. We brewed this to commemorate our second anniversary since Red Baron was the first beer we brewed. Pours a deep amber with a rich off-white head. Malty, crisp and bitter. The oak creates complexity and accentuates the dry finish. This beer is truly the top dog.

Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a pretty, deep copper-cola color with a modest, ecru-colored head and thick lacing. Its nose is fruity with notes of apple, cherry, bready caramel malt, and lots of spice. The spiciness is strong in the taste and provides great balance to the caramel malt and sweet fruit. It's dry with a slight, hoppy bitterness at the finish. The flavors are well-balanced and it's really tasty. Its mouth feel is full-bodied, thick and creamy with pleasant carbonation, and the 7.6% ABV gives it a lot of substance. Overall, I have to say I like Ober Baron better than its little brother Red Baron. The spiciness really makes this Altbier. Sometimes making a bigger version of a beer doesn't work. Here it does. Big time!
