Copenhagen 3/1 2021. 50 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Maltgardens usual jolly, colorful, abstract design - this time in pink with green and brown brushstrokes.
Pours opaque hazy, golden yellow with a big, fluffy white head. Settles as 0,3 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is intense with a sweet, fermented odor of exotic fruit mingling with a subtle citric scent. Sweet peach and apricot. Alcohol and decomposition. Lemon and lime.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily and a bit greasy, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong, boozy sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Semi-dry slightly boozy finish.
As a DIPA should be. Sweet booziness meeting citric bitterness. Not especially messy.

Pours a cloudy, deep golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and tropical/berry/stone fruit hops with notes of papaya, peach and blueberry, as well as just a hint of pine. Taste is a decent balance of biscuity, very slightly caramelly malt and fruity, slightly floral and resinous hops, with tropical, stone fruit and berry notes of papaya, peach and blueberry, as well as just a hint of pine. Finishes rather sweet, with a very light bitterness and some papaya and blueberry lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
After the last two NEIPAs I had by these guys, which were absolutely world-class, I thought this one was pretty disappointing, to be honest. The hops are not that well-defined, feeling somewhat blunted and lacking that juicy quality, while the mouthfeel totally lacks that soft, pillowy quality that made the previous beers I had so great, with the balance seeming a little off as well and this just being far too sweet and a little too floral. At least there are some nice berry notes from the Mosaic and the mouthfeel somewhat improved on final pour as well. While it makes for a decent NEIPA at the end of the day, it's just nowhere near as good as Only Few Words or I'm The Ambassador.
