My third, and last, bier quaffed at the Nürnberg Altstadtfest on 27SEP08. Cost was 3.00EU for a 0.4l glass.
It was served in an attractive glass featuring the Torschmied's logo on the front, and the story behind the naming of this bier on the back. As for the bier itself, it was a lovely chestnut hue. Clear, with a steady, fine carbo rising within. Head was tan and mousse-like, lasting and lasting, with solid lacing hitting the sides. Nose has toffee aspects, with a little bit of florals coming through. Solid body in the medium range, with a fairly smooth passage on the tongue.
Flavor hits the palate with light choco notes, along with toffee and caramel. Pair that with a pronounced bitter hop finish, and it's a winning combination. A very nice Dunkel which really goes down well. Perhaps the best new bier I tried on this trip.
Zum Wohl!!
