A pumpernickel bread beer with German ale yeast originating from Düsseldorf with a generous amount of rye malt. Molasses and dark brown sugar were added to make a uniquely tasty beer.

On-tap at the brewery. Not a very rye forward beer. Has their house lager flavor with just a mild rye flavor in the finish. Body and carbonation is good. Bitterness is low with little hop influence.

Crowler can, dated 03.03.21.
Slightly murky, amber brown colored body. First pour produces a two finger off white head. Settles back to a full cap. Leaves some partial sheets of lacing on the non-drinking side.
Aroma of spicy rye malt and Pumpernickel bread. Has some molasses too.
Taste is dark roasty dark bread flavors, with some spicy rye additions. Slightly sweet molasses flavor. After taste trails off quickly with the dark bread.
Medium mouth feel, with a slight tongue bite coming from each sip. Very good carbonation.
Reminiscent of dark bread, with a sweet note. I bet this is awesome on tap, as the crowler tends to mute some full expression. This beer invites itself to be sipped and the result is rewarding.

Clear, auburn-hued, creamy, tannish head, lasting long.
In the nose: light hops, spicy rye malt, caramel character.
In the mouth: Mmm. Likable, right off the bat. Caramel & rye malt character comes spilling out on the palate, with a touch of cocoa on the side. Rich and ready. Moderate hops, delectable malt. Medium bodied, clean, smooth, and exceptionally flavorful. Toasty, tasty, brimming with delights.
This is crowler #5 of the 7 I bought nearly two weeks ago. It's my favorite so far.
