Ever-so-slightly clouded, bright golden hue, slim, but lace-leaving layer of foam.
In the nose: Clean, minor hops.
In the mouth: Crispness and cleanness. Smooth, light, refreshing. Citrus notes and hop bitterness dance upon a mellow malt frame. Lemon and grapefruit at play. Fresh and zesty, a little bit of spicy. Exceptional drinkability. Damnably delicious. Pale ale meets a lager. Good beer and you can drink it.

On Tap. Pours a clear light yellow color with nice lacing. Has lemon citrus floral smell. Taste has citrus spritzers lemon/lime and some pine resin. Some bitterness in mouth feel but was overall light on taste and feel.

750ml crowler dated 05/31/21.
If a person is looking for a traditional Zwickel, this is not it. Slight haze to the golden beer with a dense white head. Aroma of citrus and flora notes. Tastes more like an IPL than a Zwicklel. Very hoppy but not bitterness. Sweet flavor profile but with clean lager fermentation. Deceiving amount of alcohol as it does not feel that big of a beer. Nicely carbonated even from a crowler. An interesting beer for sure, but not what I want in a lager.

I was all ready to really like everything from this brewery, and, while at my local shop was really in the mood for a lager, so I got a crowler of this.... It's okay, and as an experiment, worth a shot, but....I didn't dig it the way I've dug other stuff I've had from these guys.
Anyway: into a tulip, pours a dull heavy honey golden orange, somewhat hazy, and a slight cottony head that doesn't have much retention. Nose is mild...not very sharp or defined...some mild hoppy and flowery citrus, I guess, a little honeyed earthiness...I'm just not getting well developed notes, here. I'm not getting any lagery yeast notes. Taste: fuller profile...kind of like a fruity citrus ipa, without any bitterness. It isn't cloying, but there is a sweetness that is a little drippy, I guess. Mouthful: medium body with full flavors, no zippy liveliness... just kind of sits there, like a pleasant puddle, kind of. Body is a little heavy, tbh...I didn't look at the abv when I bought it, but after I had a few sips I did, and the feel matched the advertized facts. I don't know if that is "to style" for a zwickel...it definitely distinguishes it from both a fruity ipa and a neipa, which some of the taste profile suggests. Its kind of an interesting beer, though nothing about it really grabs your attention and won't let go...what's interesting is that its kind of an oddball, and doesn't check certain boxes that parts of it make me expect to be checked. Its got lots of good things going on, and its definitely worth a shot. I don't think it has much in the way of flaws. At the same time, it wasn't what I was hoping for when I went hunting for a lager in the moment...but maybe that's not a fair way to evaluate.

Drank from a 750ml crowler bought at the tap room. canned 3/18/2021
look: transparent bright gold body. a micro amount of haze. ok white head that leaves plenty of lacing.
Smell: hops (citrus), sweet lemon, then earthy musk
taste: tastes like a light duty IPA at first (citrus/lemon). then sweet lemon drop, next herbal earthy and maybe grass flavor. The finish is more bitter with some rind to it. Has it's sweet and bitter elements alternating back and forth.
Feel is ok not thin, plenty of carbonation at first but fades away completely.
Odd beer, it's interesting
Brewery Notes: Drippy Zwickel - Unfiltered Hoppy Lager
Contains wheat
6.9% ABV, 57 IBU. Zwickel: A port or faucet on fermenters and bright tanks used for taking samples of beer. We’ve sampled this beer so much that the zwickel on our bright tank is always dripping! The good news is we saved some for you! This hybrid lager is inspired by crossing a Keller Pils with a Hazy IPA. Drippy Zwickel is the latest hoppy brainstorm from our brewer whose intentions were to combine properties of both a mellow and rich Kellerbier with the punchy hop profile of a hazy IPA. The result is big and assertive, sweet and hoppy lager
Aroma: Clean and intense citrus aromas of mandarin orange, tangerine, and grapefruit with an underlying of muskmelon and clean dankness
Flavor: The sweet and smooth malt body is almost indistinguishable from the sweet citrus flavors imparted by an unabashed use of hops. As mentioned above, there is an interesting yet inviting sensory dilemma between a rich ale and a clean lager.
