This is the second installment in our Collaborative Lager Series; this time with Eric Harper of Utepils Brewing. Eric Harper stopped by to collab on an Italian Pils — “Utalian Pils” if you will. He’s one of the best in the business with a rich and award-winning brewing history. To bridge our German-inspired brewery styles, this beer is heavily kettle hopped and then lightly dry-hopped with the noble German Tettnang hop and uses the Italian-grown Weyermann® Eraclea Pilsner malt to make this A fantastic and brilliant Italian Pils.
Aroma: Subtle honey malty aroma blended with a candied lemon peel/citrus character and herbal spiciness from the Tettnanger hops.
Flavor: Herbal and spicy, even some black tea-like flavor from the Tettnanger hops. Very clean malt character.

Crowler can. Label has fill date as '9/01/21'.
Clean, pale gold colored body. Two fingers of white with the initial pour, which settles back to a partial cap. Slight lacing follows down the glass.
Aroma is subtle, with honey malts, lemon citrus, and some spice.
Taste is biscuit malt with citrus. The hops are quite prominent, as is the Italian style, and express as black tea. Also has some hop spiciness. Aftertaste is a fading blend of all flavors.
Medium mouth feel, with a real soft texture. Good carbonation.
Italian Pils does not have a style on Beer Advocate, but this is a good example with the heavy hop influence, especially in the flavor. The black tea flavor is quite distinctive.
