Rye Barrel Roggen Stickum

750mL crowler from a trade, about three weeks old due to weather-related shipping delays. No sign of it being worse for wear due to the wait. Pours a rich, burnt caramel color with a half-finger of head. Raisin, brown sugar, malt, rye spice, pepper, vanilla wafers, and a spritz of lemon and root beer on the nose. Similarly expressive on the palate, with strong rye grain notes befitting the roggenbier style. Modest oak character from the rye whiskey barrel, though it's hard to judge what the barrel has contributed since I haven't tried the base beer.
