Bomber filled by Brewer Dave Heist poured a nearly opaque black with a small lingering brown head. The nose is full of roasty notes, chocolate and vanilla.
The flavor is roastiness and chocolate followed by vanilla and a hint of coffee.
The mouthfeel was medium bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation.
This is a very enjoyable and easy drinking dessert beer that gets better and better as it warms. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark beers.

On nitro-tap at O'Brien's today: Hoptown Vanilla Cream Porter, served in a pint glass. A super dark brown with a growing light brown frothy cream head that was about 1/2 inch THICK. Remarkable looking brew with tons of froth lacing that maps every sip.
Smooth, sweet vanilla bean nose along with black toasted malt and some chocolate undertones...smells like a nice dessert.
The flavor that mimmics the smell, almost suggests that you use a fork or spoon to indulge in this one. This truly is a sweet, dessert type of beer, very tasty and much like a milk-stout.
A medium-plus body to this smooth, creamy elixer...it's not quite as heavy or filling as a milk-stout, but has a very similar mouthfeel.
A very easy to drink Porter with a pleasant flavor to please any lover of vanilla (and chocolate for that matter). Good stuff, cheers!

Jet-black body topped with a wispy light tan ring of foam. The nose is a delightful mix of vanilla and creamy chocolate.
Subtle carbonation leads one to think that this brew may be served up on nitro...but it's a straight CO² pour. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth and features a nice dose of vanilla upon entry. Mistaste is delightfully malty with a slow chocolate fade for the finish.

Being a local girl, I love Hoptown. The Vanilla Cream Porter is a wonderful beer, if not just a bit of dessert.
Appearance is a dark brown with a thick white head. I've had this both on nitro and CO2. On nitro the head is as creamy as any I've ever had. Even on CO2 this beer's head is pretty stinkin' thick. Just think of it as the whipped cream on top.
The smell is sweet, like you've just opened a bottle of cream soda. Upon further inspection, you get just the slightest smell of alcohol, like you would find if you opened a bottle of vanilla extract. Vanilla prevails in this beer.
Taste is sweet and smooth all the way down. If it's just a bit too warm, you get a very sugary taste like you would with many dessert overloads. But all the way, you're going to get vanilla, sugar, maybe a bit of chocolate because of all the vanillan in the beer (that's no typo... vanillan is a flavor agent in chocolate).
The feel is smooth all the way... this beer is so easy to drink and can be soooo heavenly. You have to be in the mood for something sweet. I usually order it after dinner... or i just have two.
