Collaboration with Boombox Brewing Company
Our quest for this beer begins with ample amounts of Nelson Sauvin (both pellets and cryo), a hop known for its' tropical and wine grape flavours. To push it to the limit, we used Freestyle's Mega Montueka hips, which are blended with Phantasm: a thio precursor extracted from grapes, which add big passionfruit and lime notes.

This is a rare one in my neck of the woods....so I'm told, yet I got the only can on the shelf and haven't seen it since, so maybe?!?!
A- Pours a pale golden/yellow color, and is most definitely hazy, with plenty of yeast suspended within the liquid, giving it a very cloudy, almost opaque look to it. The head is more of an eggshell coloration (thought it would be white), and the consistency is of puffy clouds, with thick patches coating the top of the liquid, and thin blotches in between....almost like the labryrinth of energy in the universe! There seems to be thick coating of foam around the inside of my glass, and when swirling, the lacing is sticky, thick and without any slide back...very nice!
S- There is a plethora of fresh leafy hops happening on the aroma! I don't want to admit to this, but I definitely smell the essence of a white wine, think Sauv Blanc in terms of dryness and freshness. Bready malt robustness, white grapes, yeast, perhaps some tropical fruitiness, and a finish that is a blend of dry grains, citrus rind and leafy hop cone bitterness
T- Oh this is a bit of a hop bomb! Everthing about this is super smooth on the palate, and the dryness of the hops suck all of the moisture right off of your tongue! Fresh citrus rind zest, white wine grapes, leafy astringency, tropical fruitiness, a slightly strong alcoholic presence, plenty of creamy yeast, a certain breadiness, and a finish that is super dry, hop fresh, smoothly bitter, and clean. I have really come into my own within this style and am really enjoying the flavors provided with this one.
M/O- This one is medium bodied, leaning into full for sure, with a smooth, yet crisp carbonation. It is fine and hits all parts of the palate equally, even the roof of my mouth. The drinkability is very nice, even though I don't think I'd want to have more than one of these tall boys in a sitting...still not there yet! This would pair well with a spicy noodle dish, or even a savoury beef/lamb meal, to help cleanse all of those tasty oils off the tongue, ready for the next taste! I would definitely have this again in the future and if given the opportunity, recommend anyone to try this one. Cheers!
