One foot in sour ale discipline and one in the mischief nature of fruit beer, Broken Throne brewers roll the summertime favorite fruit of peaches into a tangy, sassy and teasingly tart ale.
After is initial pale and lightly hazy pour, the golden ale pops with the scent of white wine, cider, tart peach, citrus and a gentle musk soon after the froth dissolves. Once on the tongue, initial impressions of sourdough, taffy and wafer sweetness graces the tastebuds even if briefly.
As the quenching sourness splashes against the middle palate, the refreshing ale brings a racy peach acidity along with the undercurrents of fermentation to deliver complementary flavors of green apple, sour white grape, gooseberry, lime and lemon for an utmost warm weather refresher. Low in bitterness and with a light pectin balance, the ale trails into a brisk, slightly briny late taste of sour fruit and white wine.
Quite bellini-like, the session is highly refreshing, thirst quenching a cleanly sour with only a hint of dry burlap that accompanies a brief sourdough aftertaste. Its a perfect ale to beat the heat of the "Hambley Dome".
