Another day, another beer brewed for Pinnacle Drinks. I dunno why I torture myself sometimes. At least is brewed by Tribe in Goulburn NSW. So it had a chance of being OK.
This beer is supposedly some community outreach beer where for every carton sold, they're giving $2 to Australian communities in need. From the QR code on the can links to their Instagram page which shows a bunch of Farmers and their families.
I found this on special at my local Glenquarie BWS for $2, so I don't think its overly popular. Always enough rambling.
Vessel: Dark Blue and yellow label. Eye catching, but I'm not sure about the name. Best before is 12/1/24, so explains why they were eager to flog it for $2.
Appearance: Classic Australian lager. Dark Golden straw. Thin fizzy soft drink/soda esque head that disappears in seconds, leaving the beer in my glass looking like sparkling apple juice. Completely filtered, lots of carbonation present. Not off to a good start.
Aroma: Very faint and mild malt, and some form of hop presence, but you got to really push your nose in to find it. A ever so slight grain presence. It's like they've made a vat of sparking mineral water and put in hops, grain and malt as a last minute afterthought.
Taste: It's actually got flavour. Strong sweet malt and grain. Some mild hops in there, nothing over powering but easy to miss if you're not searching for it. The hops provide a very mild bitterness, just to remind you their there. Maybe Pride of Ringwood but might be something else. But mostly the flavour is malt and Grain.
Feel: Thin, highly carbonated. A suitable water substitute on a hot and dusty day.
Overall: Send it down Hughie? Send it somewhere far away. Look, at theast they're honest, 100% Aussie malt and hops, lightly hopped, easy drinking and refreshing. Out of an icy esky after a long hard day of toiling away it's going to be a suitable replacement for a bottle of water, but it's a "craft" XXXX.
I hope this sells for the Farmers sake, but I'll be surprised if it crosses my pallatte again.
