Slauterhouse was our first stop of the day, mainly since they were open earlier than everywhere else. This was due to their old Sunday brunch hours, which they no longer serve, but still kept the same hours. They typically have a food truck, but were currently in between food vendors.

The vibe was cozy and cool with a lot of custom woodwork and various elements from the buliding's former life as a meat processor. Old pulleys and rope hung above the bar with large edison bulbs illuminating the seats below. In back was a direct connection to the brewery, with a fermenter and tool index visible from the bar. Patio to the side with some shade.

Beer selection was pretty good, though they recently lost a brewer and the owner was currently brewing. 4-5 house drafts with 6 more guests including Heavy Riff from St. Louis. Selection included a BA Gose, Kölsch, BSPA, and DIPA. They also had an extensive whiskey selection, including a few exclusive barrel picks.

The bartender chatted with us the whole time, and was super friendly. We learned a lot from her, and really appreciated the conversation. They recently opened a second location south of St. Louis, and have access to some STL kegs for their guest taps.

Overall, this was a fun stop. Worth the detour and be sure to also stop at Sangamo Brewing, just up the road in Chatham.
