The darkest California Common I've ever seen--Maris Otter?!??--appearance is reddish-brown, but clear, with a tall and densely compacted khaki foam via their Lukr spout.
The creamy head introduces what I'd consider maerzen qualities like toasted Brazil nut, fallen autumn leaves, and a very faint tang of crabapple skin, all while exhaling a hint of fresh tobacco.
Despite its unexpected appearance, I kind of love it. At least during this visit, it was easily the best beer of the day.
