Got this one from Terry & Emma this year. Thanks, guys!
From a 473ml can into a pint glass
APPEARANCE: Pours out transparent black and yields a small, medium looking, light tan head with solid retention. Black body with no real carbonation evident. Head recedes to a full wisp and ring. Wisp remains until the end leaving touches of lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lots of roasted malts, burnt notes, some roasted coffee, vanilla cream notes and some light milk chocolate aromas as well. Hints of caramel as well. Quite aromatic. Good stuff.
TASTE: Roasted malts, burnt coffee flavors, vanilla cream, some caramel sweetness and more roasted flavors at the swallow. Bold finish of roasted and burnt malts, pure chocolate, espresso coffee flavors, some vanilla cream and caramel linger on the palate. Very roasted and plenty of burn flavors on this one.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes slightly mouth-coating. Plenty of bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: A very roasted porter, with plenty of burnt and bitter flavors going on. This is my favorite flavor profile for a strong porter, so this is right up my alley. If you’re a fan of the style, or a fan of the brewery, which I am, give this one a shot. Thanks again, guys!
