Got this one from Terry & Emma this year. Thanks, guys!
From a 473ml can into a pint glass
Stout with marshmallows
APPEARANCE: Pours out transparent black and yields a small, medium looking, light tan head with solid retention. Black body with no real carbonation evident. Head recedes to a full wisp and ring. Wisp remains until the end leaving touches of lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lots of roasted malts, burnt notes, some roasted coffee, vanilla cream notes and some light milk chocolate aromas as well, which might be the marshmallows, too. Very aromatic, but the marshmallows aren’t necessarily a defining feature.
TASTE: Roasted malts, burnt coffee flavors, vanilla cream, some marshmallow character, and more roasted flavors at the swallow. The marshmallow additions are more noticeable in the flavor than the nose. Bold finish of roasted and burnt malts, pure chocolate, espresso coffee flavors, some vanilla cream and marshmallow notes linger on the palate. Very roasted and plenty of burn flavors on this one.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes slightly mouth-coating. Plenty of bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: The is another quality beer, and the marshmallow additions add a nice touch. However, I wouldn’t say this version is any better than the base beer. The marshmallow may have been a trade for the sweet caramel character, but that might also just be my imagination. Still, this is a solid beer and I’m very happy to have had the chance to imbibe. I recommend you do the same if you have the means. Thanks again, guys!
