Pours a thick deep, dark brown with a fairly significant head that slowly dissipates leaving a light latte film and negligible lacing.
Hazelnut jumps up first in the nose followed by vanilla wafers and sweet milky coffee. As it warms, the distinct aromas of the Coffee Crisp candy bar dominate.
The sip is sweet up front. It is a little hard to find the stout behind the add-junks until the beer warms up a little. Light roasted malts. Vanilla and sweet milky coffee are prominent. The hazelnut peaks through mid sip. This beer isn’t sweet to the point of being unpleasant, but it is sweet. The flavour additions certainly work to hide the 11.5% ABV.
Nice heavy body. Thick. Not syrupy. Negligible carbonation.
I’m losing interest in the pastry stout as a style. I find my current capability tops out at about 1-2 per month. Coffee Crisp is my favourite low end candy bar, so I looked forward to this. The flavours are there to be sure. Worth a try if you like pastry stouts.

Pours the appropriate black, but the light tiny head is surprisingly not mocha coloured. Coffee and hazelnut give the nose a delicious scent. The feel is velvety smooth, but the taste is not quite up to par. Not nearly as off-putting as Rorschach's feeble attempts at flavoured stouts, but the balance is not there. The coffee is weak and the aftertaste is rather watery.
Worth the try a few times though. It still has most elements right and I love the style, hence the high marks.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours black with light brown head. Nose is coffee, nuts, dark chocolate, vanilla, and dark fruit. Really nice! Taste is coffee crisp (love it!), mocha, dark chocolate, toffee, lactose, molasses, and dark fruit. Delicious beer! Mouthfeel is medium bodied and, overall, this is fantastic.
