Pours dark as night, only much darker, 'cause I live in the city.
The nose is delicious, bringing what's advertised within. There is no head to speak of.
Nice, though unbalanced taste. Vanilla? Yes. Maple syrup? Yes. Chocolate? Sure. Metal? Wait, what?
Yes, this is good, but there is that metallic taste, plus it has all those things and still manages to be watery. Obviously boozy aftertaste, with a bit of mouth burn. And still, it could really use some bourbon kick to round things off. Sticky.
Anyway, it sounds like I am hating on this. I'm not really. It's a drinkable fare, just could have been made even better.

473 ml can from Durand. Thanks Sal.
Appearance - Inky black in color with a three quarter finger tan head. Decent enough staying power for the head beyond the ominous void of the brew itself.
Smell - Vanilla and Maple Syrup overlaid a roasty dark chocolate is the best way to describe. Definitely a pastry stout. Some slight booziness and the nose is fairly robust even when cold.
Taste - Vanilla and maple syrup initially, followed up with some bitter chocolate and plenty of booze. Molasses maybe in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Really full body, slick and oily and low on carbonation. Boozy finish.
Overall - Pretty good imperial stout, however none of the vanilla, maple syrup or chocolate really lead the way and they do get muddled in with the high ABV a bit. A good imperial stout, but left wanting something a little more distinctive.
