355ml can served cold into a pint glass. The highest ABV IPA I've ever tried. First quintuple (and maybe quadruple) IPA. Another great find from Durand.
Appearance - Very hazy and turbid milky yellow brew capped with two plus fingers of brilliant and long lived white head. Frothy and with great lacing.
Smell - There's some dankness with an underlying sweetness, some mango peach and maybe even bubblegum. Light tropical notes as well. No tangible boozy sharpness. Nose is not as intense as you might expect.
Taste - peach and mango with a touch of orange peel, fairly sweet and the booziness is definitely there lurking in the background. Noticeable but doesn't really detract.
Mouthfeel - Full bodied and quite creamy, carbonation is low. A sipper of an IPA (as you'd expect) but quite drinkable. Other than the heat rising in the back of my throat indicating the bad outcomes of consuming more than one of these, the ABV is masterfully hidden.
Overall -A definite sipper and not a beer I could do multiple of in an evening (as opposed to a DIPA, which just seems so balanced and crushable that two or more isn't out of the question), but the balance is there and the ABV is reigned in with great flavors and surprising sweetness with just enough bitterness. Surprisingly crushable as far as 13.5% ABV IPA's go.
