473 ml can served cool into a pint glass. Durand purchase. Collaboration with 5 Baron. Imperial stout with chocolate and orange zest. Canned May 10, 2023.
Appearance - Thick and oily looking black beer with a half finger of deep tan head that fizzles away to nothing in about 30 seconds.
Smell - Chocolate, molasses and maybe a hint of orange. Surprisingly subdued nose.
Taste - Molasses some dark chocolate and some orange. Boozy as hell. Fusel-esque.
Mouthfeel - Huge bodied, surpassingly well carbonated and chewy, the booziness makes this go down hot.
Overall - Good concept, maybe just needs to mellow out a bit. Too hot and sharp for my tastes, and the orange is rather muted initially but does show well in the aftertaste. I wanted to like this much more than I did.
