473 ml can served cool into a pint glass. Durand purchase. Canned March 1, 2023.
Appearance - Virtually black with a two fingers of medium tan head. Moderate head retention. Ominous looking brew.
Smell - Huge amount of dark chocolate, some other roasty malts and a suggestion of smoke.
Taste - Moderately bitter, lots of roasty flavors, dark chocolate and some minor amounts of smoke. A little leather in there too. Quite bitter for a milk stout but this keeps it balanced. A fair bit of booze, but it is complementary, but you can taste the fact that this is close to 10% ABV.
Mouthfeel - Quite well carbonated, this doesn't quite have the smoothness or slickness of other brews. A full bodied experience too.
Overall - A pretty darn good chocolate milk stout, lots of flavors, pretty good depth and while being well carbonated has an enjoyability and drinkability that is very appealing. Definitely a worthy purchase if you can find it.
