473ml can served reasonably cold into a tulip. Durand purchase. No canning date.
Appearance - Midnight black with a frothy brown head that measures three fingers. Great retention and huge streaks of lacing all over the glass.
Smell - Loads of chocolate, with a nutty aroma too. Caramel is there in spades. There is something grainy in the nose too and it does in fact remind me of pretzels. Massive intensity too.
Taste - Lots of dark chocolate, more minor notes of caramel and that pretzel aroma does somehow translate into flavor. Salted molasses in the mix as well. The chocolate doesn't linger nor taste as gooey as I'd imagined base don the nose and there's a bit of a watery undercurrent (something to do with the pretzel flavor and chocolate competing). Still really good and deep.
Mouthfeel - Very full bodied, not boozy but there is a nice warming sensation at the back of the throat. Finish is super-duper dry and carbonation is medium-low. More chalky than chewy but the feel is pretty good as well.
Overall - Excellent imperial pastry stout with a truly great nose and a flavor profile to (almost) match. Perhaps the best of the limited number of Bestowed series I've had the opportunity to sample, highly recommended for any BA that can get their hands on this.
