473 ml can served cold into a chalice. Durand purchase. Canned November 15, 2023.
Appearance - Hazy yellowy gold brew with a touch of orange. A finger and a half of rocky white head is poured and stays around for a while.
Smell - Lots of citrus. Orange, grapefruit and papaya with a sprinkle of lemon zest. Quite assertive with the citrus.
Taste - Big and bitter flavors. Grapefruit and orange again, with grapefruit pith leading the way. Some lemon too, but not enough to make it sour. Aggressively hopped.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Quite a dry finish. Mouthfeel wouldn't work quite as well with the flavor profile of a different beer, but here it works.
Overall - The aggressive hopping of this one, reminds me in some respects of some of the old school WCIPA hop wars of years past. This doesn't hit the same boxes, but does feature that intensity and pushing the limits. Definitely worth a try if you can get your hands on it.
