473ml can served cool into a snifter. Durand purchase. Canned January 24, 2024.
Appearance - Black in color with a finger and a half of head in the color of half eaten black licorice. Modest staying power.
Smell - A little coffee, some bourbon and a healthy dose of buttery shortbread in the background. Some molasses and treacle for good measure.
Taste - Molasses, fairly bitter initially with some bourbon, graininess then buttery shortbread shines through for a split second. More sweetness at the back end with hints of cherries.
Mouthfeel - Very low carbonation, full body and slick feel. Finish is middling too.
Overall - Decent imperial stout that is subdued with the shortbread in play. Worth a purchase if you can find it, although not that different from the other variations.
