375ml wax sealed bottle from Durand. Served at about 15 degress into a chalice. Collab with Blood Brothers
Appearance - Black and oil from the bottle, pours out with a quick receding half finger of deep tan head.
Smell - Huge chocolate notes, some cookie batter, plenty of bourbon, this is obviously a boozy beer. Plenty of sweetness. Intensely delicious aromatics.
Taste - Initially there's almost an absence of flavor, then dark chocolate, cookie batter and bourbon come into play. Wood, smokiness and molasses are also there for a bit. Returns to chocolate and cookie dough. Boozy
Mouthfeel - Full bodied with low carbonation, not super velvety and the finish is a bit hot with the 26 proof brew rearing its head. Sharpness too.
Overall - There's something here that is special, the depth and range of flavors is awesome, but something about it isn't quite coming together as cohesively as I'd like. Maybe being a bit more chilled would help. With that said this is still an excellent brew that does taste quite a bit like liquid, boozy and a bit smokey chocolate chip cookies. Probably an ideal brew for sharing; 6-8 oz would be lovely 13 is a bit much.
