Got this from Emma & Terry. Cheers!
From a 375ml, reasonably waxed bottle into a tulip
English style barleywine aged 16 months in Elijiah Craig and 10 months in bourbon barrels
APPEARANCE: Pours our clear mahogany brown and yields a small, one finger, medium looking, off-white head with solid retention. Deep maroon red with no real carbonation evident. Head recedes to a ring only.
SMELL: Lots of bourbon, oak, caramel and toffee on the nose. Notes of brown sugar and butterscotch as well. Barrel and sweet malts. Great.
TASTE: Bourbon, oak, caramel and toffee sweetness, with hints of brown sugar at the swallow. Some booze as well, then a bold finish of bourbon, oak, caramel and toffee sweetness, and some alcohol lingering on the palate.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy enough, not overly heavy, goes down fine and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. Some booze lingers.
OVERALL: This is a lovely brew. Nice aromas and flavors, and the look does the trick. The feel is a little lighter than hoped, but the that’s a minor point. Good stuff and worth checking out. Luckily, the wax is reasonable on this one as well. Thanks again, guys!

This is Batch #2. Stouty blend. Still a barleywine, with Stouty overload. Bvroom, thanks for sharing. A good sipper and closer on a cold blowing night.
