Got this from Emma and Terry this year. Cheers!
From a 473ml can into a pint glass
Stout with Coconut
APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a big, foamy, light tan head with great retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head eventually fades to a thin, foamy cap. Part wisp remains until the end leaving no real lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Plenty of coconut on the nose, with some milk chocolate and vanilla notes as well. Lightly roasted aromas, but mostly sweet coconut.
TASTE: Bolder flavors with plenty of coconut up front, with some roasted malts, vanilla flavors and milk chocolate as well. More coconut at the swallow, with a medium but lingering finish of coconut, roasted flavors, chocolate, and notes of vanilla. Good stuff.
PALATE: Thinner body and higher levels of carbonation. A little foamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a touch mouth-coating.
OVERALL: Not quite as nice as the Egg Nog version. The coconut additions were nice, but the thinner and overly bubbly feel detracted from the experience.
