Pours a clear yellow with a thick cap och dense, fluffy head.
Smell is bready and a bit floral with notes of spicy rye, citrus and wheat dough. Very clean and crisp.

Clear golden color with with a bit of foam. Intense sweet, bready malt on the aroma with a hint of herbal hops in the background. Taste starts slightly sweet and grainy but balances out nicely towards the finish with some slight hop presence. Light, crisp body. Overall it's quite good, classic pils, clean and easy to drink.

Poured from the bottle into a pils style glass.
Light lemon and crystal clear with perhaps some brass gold highlights. Minimal rising carbonation, the odd cascading bubble, but still noticeable. Head is thick white, but also speckled with little retention off a 3 finger size creation. It quickly settles to a thin puck, and a euro lager like large bubbled collar.
The bouquet is great. Just a giant bread factory in there. Big dough and fresh white bakery bread just jumps off the nose. Sense of aroma seems just thick, chewy, like you could just bite and rip right into it. Very inviting.
Palate gives large amounts of what the nose hints. Big mid palate of bakery and classic malt to style. A real bubbly mouthfeel, with more carbonation that seems to hint at it from the visual appearance. Champagne almost crispness with lots of bubbly action, and some neutral herbal and green popping hops on the finish. As the beer even warms, it gives a great sweet light honey coating all over.
This is just what I remember good German beer being. A giant trip to the bakery with it's great simple simplicity. This isn't complex, or even mind blowing, but it has a lot of perfect things going for it. Could drink lots of this easily over a good amount of time.

Sampled on-tap at the brewery pub in Merkendorf.
This pils poured a clear, golden color with fluffy, white foam that persisted and clung to the glass. The smell was fruity and mildly floral hops with a note of hop bitterness in the nose as well. The taste was bready malt, richly malty (bready and cereal) with mild noble hoppiness. Well balanced flavors that blended nicely as the beer warmed. The mouthfeel was smooth and crisp and dry overall, with medium body and good carbonation. The malt flavors and hops (floral and bitter) lingered pleasantly on the palate. This was an excellent pils, and was very drinkable.
