Textile opened last year in the midst of the pandemic, and I applaud them for persevering. Located in an old pajama factory that produced textiles, there are subtle nods in the decor to it's industrial past. Huge beams overhead, vaulted ceilings, pulleys, fans, and sewing desks and fixtures that were all original or repurposed. Cool vibe, a medium to large space with wood floors, brick walls, and edison bulbs overhead.
Table seating up front, with a path from the door to the island bar, service area in front, flanked with bar seating on the sides, and a small open kitchen to the left. A cutaway floor in back with a view down into the brewery, and the patio out back. We sat out there, but the aggressive flies flocking from the farm country got to be too much and we soon realized why everyone was packed inside on a nice sunny day. Sigh.
Service was quick and efficient, they got a flight ordered and poured in 5 minutes. The flights were a little awkward, taster glasses in upside-down drawers that were a little wonky but functional. We later spoke to Caleb, who was kitchen staff but chatted with us enthusiastically about the place while it was slow.
Beers were pretty good overall, with an ambitious BA rye barleywine as well as a tasty clean lager. Less successful were the altbier and fruited kettle sour, but drinkable overall. They seem to rotate a lot of seasonal beers, surely the selection will be different the next time through. Overall a recommended stop in between Elkader and Dubuque.
