Appearance – The beer is served a very deep brown color with a billowy head of light brown colored foam. The head has an amazing level of retention, with it very slowly fading over time, leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is huge of milk chocolate, vanilla, and marshmallow. Along with these smells comes notes of chocolate milkshake and coffee, as well as hints of caramel and molasses. Rounding it all out are some smells of toast and roast as well as a little bit of a raisin smell. Overall, the aroma is quite inviting.
Taste – The taste begins with a big milk chocolate and vanilla flavor matched with a nice marshmallow and caramel sweetness. At the same time there is a nice roasty and toasty malt base, that creates a compliment to the chocolate and marshmallow. As the taste advances, the milk chocolate, caramel and vanilla get even more potent, all while the roastiness fades and takes on a lightly more lightly toasted grainy taste. At the same time there are notes of molasses and dark fruit, which join with the rest to leave one with a big milk chocolatey marshmallow flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is super chewy and creamy with a carbonation level that is low. The feel is awesome for the style and makes for a nice dessert sipper.
Overall – A really nice, big and robust desert brew. Quite fun to try.
