Picked up a six-pack of this new beer from Bear King.
Pours a crystal clear, golden in color with hints of copper. A finger thick, frothy head sits on top that dissipates to a thin lacing which clings a little but mostly slides down the glass. Carbonation looks average. An inviting view on a hot day.
Aroma is mostly grassy with hints of a white wine, light fruit bouquet. The malts are almost indiscernible, other than lending some sweetness and a tiny bit of crackers to the backend of the aroma. Seems to be more on the German side of the pilsner spectrum with the Hallertau Blanc hops shining.
A lot more malt comes through on the tongue. It's light and crackery with a little bit of toastiness up front with the grassy, lemon and white wine flavors coming in towards the middle and the swallow. Finishes with a lingering hop bitterness. There's actually a fair amount of complexity in here and the flavors mesh quite well together.
An absolutely crushable mouthfeel. Light bodied with zesty carbonation, it manages to feel a little bit chewy and buttery on the tongue while finishing crisp and dry. Quite refreshing.
Another great one from Bear King. I definitely tend to prefer the Czech style pilsners over the German ones, but this one was quite pleasant and not overly bitter. I was afraid the white wine characteristics of the hops would turn me off, but this particular hop has a bit more complexity lurking within and it was balanced out nicely by the malt profile . This is definitely a great warm weather beer, so they dropped it just in time for the early Summer weather we are currently experiencing across Texas. Cheers!
